Sustainable vehicle procurement toolkit
Description Function Ways to be utilised
This sustainable vehicle procurement toolkit has been developed by the PASS project. PASS (Procurement and Sustainable Supply) is a two-year collaboration between Berkshire unitary authorities and partners, and is funded by ERDF and SEEDA. Its aim is to help improve the sustainability of small and medium businesses and their products and services, and to help raise sustainable procurement standards within the public sector. More information: www.passberkshire.co.uk The greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions and safety standards of purchased / leased vehicles have been identified as a gap in information and awareness and this toolkit has been produced with this in mind. The kit consists of seven spreadsheets, each comparing different types of vehicles, with guidance notes on suggested usage. These list vehicles that meet EC Green Public Procurement minimum standards (where data was accessible or could reasonably be proxied at the time of production, early 2010). Parameters listed include purchase, delivery, and operating costs; CO2, PM10 and NOx emissions; NCAP safety ratings where applicable (not commercial vehicles). The user can set global factors such as fuel and carbon prices. You can use it in the way that best meets your organisation’s sustainable procurement needs. For example, this could be by whole-life cost (inc. or excl. external costs of pollution / CO2), CO2 ranking or . Constructive feedback on its contents or use in practice will be welcomed by the PASS team.
